Smithers Vespa Lights are a Recycled collection of Genuine Vespa part Bar Lighting that have been transformed into highly desirable lamps, pendants and floor lights. Being a diehard scooter boy for as long as I can remember, this genius design was always going to be a winner in my book. If truth be told, I’m more of a Lambretta Boy, but as long as it smokes two-stroke, I’m happy.
The Vespa Lights were the first on my scooter hit list. The original scooter auto parts and retro pops of colour, won me over immediately. The finish is deliberately distressed, making the very most of any natural patina the headlamps have to offer. I’ve seen these pendants used in many areas of the home, bars and hotels and their universal design appears to suit any space. Some clients have chosen to stick with one main colour, whilst others have mixed it up with an eclectic array of the red, blue, yellow and green pendants available. This is my favourite look for sure and adds a real sense of stylish fun.
The Vespa Table Lamps and Floor Standing Lamps soon followed the pendants, and whereas the pendants showcased vibrant flair and fresh design, the lamps were far more miniscule and moody. The lamps brought me Italian Piaggio magic on a whole different level.
The Table Lamp is a reproduction piece, but an excellent one nonetheless. The design is sleek, simple and black and puts me in mind of Jimmy from Quadrophenia. Whilst our lamp won’t tear up the streets of Brighton, it will look understatedly cool in your living room, bedroom or workplace. I have one of these in my man cave, sat aloft an industrial trunk and casting light upon my men’s mags and general crap – regardless of the visitor to said cave (not that many are invited), it’s a piece that always draws attention, and receives the occasional threat to be nicked. I don’t think so fellas.
The Vespa Lamps are designed using Genuine Vespa Parts and really do stand out from the crowd. The lights are available as table or tall floor lamps and are constructed using recycled headsets from vintage Vespas. These lamps are beyond cool and an absolute must have for any fellow scooter boys or girls like myself. The level of workmanship is superb and the finish, totally sympathetic to the upcycled materials used.

Scooters have always been such a huge part of my life – the comradely, the smells, the noise, the lifestyle, and I love the fact that something I’ve enjoyed outdoors for years – apart from the times when I’ve had to push the bloody clapped out contraptions of course – can now be brought into my home or workplace and only add to the room nostalgia.
